The 1950's Soviet Latvian Reproduced Chess Pieces are based on a classic Latvian chess design associated with the Soviet era and inspired by the style favored by Soviet Grandmaster Mikhail Tal. The design features unusually large knights with their manes on one side.
Each chess piece is double weighted with an iron stud added inside the base for a balanced playing feel. The pieces feature green or red felt on the bases to help protect the chessboard surface during movement. The set is available in two material variations.
